NESL’s design and fabrication team has always worked hand in hand to provide the best possible leak-sealing solution in the shortest outage window.
We were asked to help a leading steel manufacturer to seal a leak in a water management cell. The pressure in the system was 7 bar and the fluid was at ambient temperature.
Our team was challenged with the task to arrest this leakage and put the pipe back into service in the shortest time possible.
Our service engineer designed a bespoke T-Clamp according to the ASME PCC2 specifications & ASME Sec VIII Div. I with a strong back system to hold the 900 DN pipe and a 6-inch NB pipe with a pre-installed clamp in place in the case of catastrophic failure. The clamp securely covered the leaky pipe, and to stop the leak, our team then injected the clamp chamber with our proprietary leak-sealing compound, NES-1B.
NES-1B is a blend of synthetic rubbers with non-staining polymers mixed with special chemicals and active inorganic fillers that provides excellent leak-sealing performance.
The leakage was arrested instantly and the pipe was put back in service within a few hours.
